Fig Jam & Preserves
A great way to enjoy your fresh figs is with this Fig Jam & Preserves recipe.
Servings: 6 8 oz Jars
Ingredients
- 75 Fresh Figs
- 1 tbsp Butter
- 1/2 cup Sugar
- 2 tbsp Ground Mariner
Instructions
- After harvesting 75 fresh figs cut into 1/2 to 1 inch slices and cut crosswise again.
- Melt 1 tablespoon of butter in pan and add chopped figs
- Cook down on medium heat for 15 minutes until the color turns to a golden to deep brown.
- Add 1/2 cup sugar and stir
- Add 2 tablespoons ground mariner and cook down another 5 minutes while stirring
- Once preserves turn a dark golden brown and are soft and spreadable, they are finished and ready to can.
- If canning for a longer storage time, make sure to use sterilized canning jars.
- If preserves will be consumed in two to three weeks, keep in refrigerator.
